The great marsh

Got myself 8 days off from work, had a few days and I had to spend them before 2010, so what better? Take some days off, before Christmas, enjoy them go for a walk in the
crowded city center, and maybe for a few shots...
Well that was the initial plan, until on my 2nd (and rainy) day I got struck by flu, and eventually the only walk I took was towards the bed...
So today after 8 days...I finally managed to get myself together, decided that the weather was ideal for a few rounds of shooting, and that at least I could still get a few hours of enjoyment with my days away from the office.
Headed outside of Athens, not that far, a few Km's actually, I knew about the marsh in Marathon (yes, thats the place of the famous battle of Marathon, the one before the battle
of Thermopylae) the marsh that actually exists a few thousand of years, but yet again I never had the chance to visit...until today!
I had a great time walking, nature beauty, colors, and everything just a few Km's away from the city center!
The Distant mountain / hills you see is called kinosoura, it's the place (actually it's a beach) where the Persian army (during the Marathon battle) landed.
The marsh you see in front is actually part of the marsh where the Persian army was trapped during its retreat and slayned by the Athenian forces.

Unfortunately and as always Marathon and the greater area of Schinias just feel abandoned (during winter, because at summer it is really crowded, with lots of ignorant and nature threating representatives!)
